What is the purpose of life? This is such a difficult question to answer, at least for some people. I think that we will be more clear about life’s meaning and purpose when we are close to dying but until then, our life would be lived. It is so sad for some people who understand that they will die after a couple of months or weeks. I am talking about those patients diagnosed with cancer who have no chances of surviving.
I am almost totally sure that when they find out about their death, they totally understand what their life should be like. For this reason, I am going to present you with some advice from a young guy, 24 years old when wrote the letter. He has written some life advice which are worth reading and reflecting on them. I have selected some of them which seemed very important to my thinking.
Don’t waste your time on work that you don’t enjoy.
That guy is totally right. There are people who say that you should do what work comes your way. The economic or other situations doesn’t allow you to select the right job but that doesn’t have to be your job forever. Try to endure and in the meantime try to find and do the work which you like.
It’s stupid to be afraid of others’ opinions. Fear weakens and paralyzes you. If you let it, it can grow worse and worse every day until there is nothing left of you, but a shell of yourself. Listen to your inner voice and go with it.
Oh, such a wonderful advice. I always try to retrieve that thinking in my mind. People will always have the tendency to tell that you should do this and that but you are not who they think you are. You know yourself better than anyone else and you are the one who really knows what you love and want.
Appreciate the people around you Your friends and relatives will always be an infinite source of strength and love. That is why you shouldn’t take them for granted.
So true. Not only relatives and friends but we take for granted so many other things such as the house, health, money etc. Indeed, we should appreciate what we have. We should not go with the thought that our friends or family will be there in our difficult moments. Indeed, they should be there even in happy moments to share the joy.
Take control of your life Take full responsibility for the things that happen to you. Limit bad habits and try to lead a healthier life. Find a sport that makes you happy. Most of all, don’t procrastinate.
The unknown guy concludes his lessons like this:
Leave a mark in this world. Have a meaningful life, whatever definition it has for you. Go towards it. … So, enjoy your time here with passion. Make it interesting. Make it count!
I hope these words have touched you in your own way, just like it did with me. Thank you for reading this motivational story.
