Why we drink coffee.
Coffee is one of the most consumed product in the world. There are a lot of people who cannot do anything after sleep if they haven’t consumed a coffee and also there are people who consume more than one coffee per day. The reason why we humans consume so much coffee is related to sleep and furthermore, it is also connected with caffeine. There are many of us who don’t sleep the needed amount of time and also some others may not be having good sleep. These factors, and also a bunch of other sleep-related factors, are to blame for our poor performance after wake up. To fix this poor performance, we consume coffee in order to absorb caffeine so that we can be more focused afterward.
Caffeine can help in the production of adrenaline and can also block the sleep chemicals. But, the problem here is the fact that many people over-consume it and don’t consume it at a relatively strict time. This can cause problems or at least will not be effective so one person will want to consume more.

This study was presented on the 32nd annual meeting of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies LLC (APSS) and was also uploaded here online and can be easily accessed here at Wiley Online Library. The research was conducted by Ph.D. Jaques Reifman, a research scientist and director of DoD Biotechnology High Performance Computing Software Applications Institute and the Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center at the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command in Ft. Detrick, Maryland, as presented by American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
What were the results?
Psychomotor vigilance task (PVT) predicts the effects of caffeine and lack of sleep. The researcher used an unified model of performance and they also used the optimization algorithm to compute the right amount of caffeine for a better alertness and also the time of consumption. The algorithm has input and output. The algorithm’s input is the maximum caffeine intake and also a schedule of wake up and sleeping time. On the other hand, as an output, the algorithm provides a strategy for the dose of caffeine one should take. The material of the study was six already published research about sleep loss.
The algorithm was able to calculate strategies that could improve the behavior of the brain by around 60% but also reduce the caffeine consumption of up to 65%.
